Named for Daedalus’ briefly-winged son, this set of platters is the perfect duo for entertaining. They are lovely in several different arrangements, or in conjunction with the Samara platter. Taken to a honed finish by hand, these do not have an intense shine.
Ikaros is carved from Carrara Marble, quarried in the Apuan Alps in Italy. In this mountain range, there is evidence of hundreds of quarries that have been used since ancient Rome. Though many quarries have closed, there are many that still remain active. This type of stone has a tight and small crystal structure, making it very desirable for sculptors, architects and designers. The body of the stone is a warm white with light grey veining. Michelangelo, Canova and Donatello are just a few notable artists who preferred this marble.
No two sections of stone are identical, therefore, every object purchased through us is entirely unique and a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art. The object in the image is the same piece that you will be receiving.*
